A Dark and Stormy Night!

At last! Now that the players have come together and the characters are built, it's time for our first campaign session! Listen as The Lamplighter, Jade Witch, Tempest, and Starchild encounter the escaped villain Calpyso and come together to stop her! I apologize for the intermittent sound glitches, they shouldn't be too bad. Lyn Hill, Jason Tondro, Theron Bretz, and Rick Jones play while James Dawsey GMs.

If you enjoyed the podcast, please let us know! I hope to bring more episodes to you soon!

-James

Good start. Really enjoyed. Looking forward to the series. Have you thought of doing some between game setup on the message boards.

Thanks, Slobberknocker! I have been posting the characters for this campaign on the Atomic Think Tank boards in the Roll Call forum. There will be more discussions and essays popping up over the course of the campaign, too. For now, check out our builds at: http://atomicthinktank.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=44145

Was wondering if they’ll follow up their investigations on this episode especially asking how she got released from her power dampening manacles if that enspelled sheet only created a duplicate of the beanstalk from Jack and the Beanstalk. I can’t help wondering if Jade’s school rival had a hand in this since it sounded like something only a fellow magi prodigy could pull off and then there’s Calypso’s reaction which made me wonder if she recognised someone and I don’t mean Tempest but thats probably me reading too much into this, anyway great episode looking forward to the next episode!

Hmmm! There are indeed a lot of unanswered questions, yes? They’ll need to spend some time asking questions to get those answers! Thanks for the encouragement. I’m hoping the players are just as excited to get the answers as you are. :)

Very entertaining as always! Can’t wait til the next Actual Play podcast…

    One question/request perhaps…

Have you ever considered doing a podcast on M&M 3 adventure design?

    Thanks, Eric!

I have thought about it, and it’s a good idea. For my benefit, what topics would you want to see us cover in an Adventure-design podcast?

Nero the Newshound has left a report of the events in Adventure 01 on the Atomic Think Tank’s roll call thread here: http://www.atomicthinktank.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=44145&p=1000322#p1003169

    Well, since you asked James!

I find balancing the opposition to be a tough task at times, so that would be one.

Maybe a default format to use/follow (not to railroad mind you), for example if you wanted to write up a 1 shot convention style game.

How to design multi-part adventures so that they flow well together.

Just a few things off the top of my head…

Some good questions there, Eric. I’ll see if I can’t pull something together. :)

Thanks James…any advice/ideas would be a great help! In the process of planning a new M&M game (broken up by the occasional Marvel Heroic session).

Wanted to say thanks to James for all the great podcasts. Been into rpgs for over thirty years but haven’t played in about ten. Listening to your play and character creation podcasts really makes me remember why I love rpgs.
